As we know, GTX 1650 is a mid-range GPU that has garnered a loyal following among gamers and creative professionals. Built on the power-efficient Turing architecture, this GPU provides a cost-effective solution for those seeking a balance between robust performance and affordability while ensuring smooth, visually stunning gameplay and efficient multimedia processing.
Questions I see commonly popping up on forums are related to temperature. How hot can this GPU get? What’s the safe temp? Is my temperature normal? How hot it gets when gaming?
Don’t worry, we will answer them all in this article. To find the answer, we had to pull many numbers from various sources, including tech review sites, forums, and Youtube benchmarks.
After researching and doing some basic math, here is the summary:
GTX 1650 | Average Temperature |
Idle Temp | 42-45°C |
Gaming Temp | 64-68°C |
Throttle Temp | 75-80°C |
Maximum Temp | 94°C |
Now let’s dive right in.
GTX 1650 idle temperature
Some people think it doesn’t matter, while others strongly disagree. Who is right? I believe that checking GPU idle temperature is important because it helps you know what’s happening inside your computer. For GTX 1650, it’s good to look at what well-known review sites say and what users in online forums share about their idle temperature. So we did.
For instance, Guru3D did a good review on Palit GeForce GTX 1650 KalmX in which they measured 40°C while idle. They also mentioned GTX 1650 Super, which averaged 36°C. I mean, nothing surprising there since the expected GPU idle temp is 35-55°C.
And then, we came across a beautiful work done by TechPowerUp in which they tested 6 different 1650 manufacturers in their temperatures, including idle. Here are the results:
ASUS GTX 1650 Super STRIX OC | 32°C |
EVGA GTX 1650 Super SC Ultra | 45°C |
Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super WindForce OC | 46°C |
MSI GTX 1650 Super Gaming X | 51°C |
Zotac GTX 1650 Super Twin Fan | 35°C |
Palit GTX 1650 Super StormX OC | 31°C |
Average Idle Temp: 40°C
When we were researching numbers from various forums, we noticed that most 1650 owners reported 40-45°C as they idle temps. Again, as expected.

GTX 1650 gaming temperature
This is what the majority of you have been waiting for. As the GPU load increases, so do the temperatures. People often pay more attention to GTX 1650 gaming temperatures rather than idle temperatures, as gaming is when the GPU is under the most stress and operating at its peak capacity.
We are well aware that high temperatures can result in diminished performance, system instability, and potential hardware damage over time. To deliver the most precise data, we took the initiative to watch YouTube benchmarks and document the outcomes. Let’s get started.

When does it begin to throttle?
The GPU throttle temperature denotes the point at which your card starts to decrease its performance or “throttle” to avoid overheating and possible damage. Throttling aids in preserving the GPU’s stability and extending its lifespan by ensuring it doesn’t run at perilously high temperatures.
From the information available, GTX 1650 typically starts to throttle at around 75-80°C. Once the GPU attains this temperature, it throttles its performance, potentially reducing frame rates.
For instance, I know a guy whose 1650 starts to throttle at around 79C, after which the frequency drops from 1800 MHz to 1200-1500 MHz and temps drop to 68-75C. Read GPU Clock Speed Fluctuating – Here’s What To Do to learn what you can do about this.
Nonetheless, it’s crucial to note that the actual throttle temperature might differ based on the specific GPU model, manufacturer, and other factors. As a result, we always advise consulting the documentation provided on the manufacturer’s website.
According to this source, the maximum operating temperature for GTX 1650 is 94°C.
